Resolution Capital named a Responsible Investment Leader in RIAA’s latest Responsible Investment Benchmark report
We are delighted to announce that Resolution Capital has been named a Responsible Investment Leader by the Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) in its 22nd annual Responsible Investment Benchmark Report launched 18 September 2023. The result recognises our commitment to responsible investing as an investment manager and places Resolution Capital in the top 20% of the investment managers assessed in Australia for responsible investment practices.
The Report is the most comprehensive review of the responsible investment sector in Australia, with the 2023 report reviewing the investment practices of 272 investment managers.
Morgan Ellis, Resolution Capital’s ESG Analyst, noted that “this result is recognition of the work we have done in expanding the integration of ESG into our investment and stewardship processes, as well as our commitment to increasing transparency and disclosure of the activities that we undertake as active managers on behalf of our clients.”
Global markets have moved rapidly to lift expected standards of practice in responsible investment in the last two years and Australia is no exception. The Responsible Investment Benchmark Report 2023 shows that financial markets in Australia are fully embracing ESG and responsible investment, with 93% of all professionally managed funds (worth $3.3 trillion) being managed by investors that have made public commitments to responsible investment. The report also reveals a market in transition, with the portion of Australian assets managed using a rigorous, leading approach to responsible investment reaching 36% (totalling A$1.3 trillion) in CY2022.
In order to reflect the evolving expectations of responsible investment leadership domestically and internationally, the standard to be named a Responsible Investment Leader was raised by RIAA. This has led to 54 fund managers being named as Responsible Investment Leaders, and 23 fund managers awarded the new Responsible Investor designation by RIAA.
Overall, 77 fund managers have been able to attain the high standards of responsible investment against RIAA’s scorecard this year as compared to 74 in 2021.
